>> He is a pro-life leader.>> We are protecting the sanctity of life.>> And now President Trump is taking action in the fraud abortion debate. The administration wants to ban clinics that provide arbortions or refer patients for the procedure from receiving federal family planning funds, reviving a Reagan era rule that was approved but never fully implemented.
>> We say pro-choice.>> The move has already set off a firestorm among pro-choice groups, who could challenge it in courts. They fear it will ban providers from even discussing abortion as an option. The rule change would impose restrictions on Title 10, the national family planning program for low-income Americans that gets $260 million a year in funding.
While in most cases, federal funding for abortions is already barred, Anti-abortion groups want to make sure no funding reaches groups like Planned Parenthood that provide or advocate for the procedure. President Trump has frequently declared his anti abortion credentials and during the presidential campaign, vowed to nominate Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe V Wade.
Pro-abortion groups fear this latest rule change is a move in that direction.
