>> It's the drink many have to start the day. But coffee may not only be giving you that morning boost, it could also have health benefits too. And not just one cup of the caffeinated brew a new study by British scientists says drinking three to four coffees a day is likely to do more good than harm.
Reuters' health and science correspondent Ben Hershla says stick to the pure ingredients.>> People who like their cup of coffee will be really reassured but maybe one thing they should beware of is the fact that people can often put a lot of sugar or syrups in their coffee and we know pretty well that those aren't good for you.
>> Researchers collected evidence from over 200 studies on coffee consumption and health and published the findings in the British Medical Journal. They found those who drink more of it experience lower risks of premature death and heart disease than those who don't have coffee at all. It’s also linked to lower risks of diabetes, liver disease, dementia, and some cancers.
>> I mean one of the interesting things about roasted coffee, is that there are more than a thousand biological active compounds in that. So, working out what exactly is going on inside your body is really difficult.>> Scientist say, because the study was based on mainly observational data, no firm conclusions could be drawn about causing a fete.
But they insist the findings prove moderate coffee consumption is safe and more than likely to be good for you.
