The modification reduces the penalty under the, so called, individual mandate tax, down to zero. Zeroing out the mandate will raise $380 billion over 10 years, to actually lower taxes for the middle class.>> You're cutting, I believe, and you can correct me if I'm wrong, $179 billion from Medicaid.
>> If you would just yield for a second, there are no cuts to Medicaid in this bill.>> I beg your pardon, $179 billion in reduced Medicaid subsidies.>> Well, there are no cuts.>> Beg your pardon, that's where the money's coming from. Where do you think the $300 billion dollars coming from?
Is there a fairy that's dropping it on the Senate?>> What?>> The money you're spending is coming out of Medicaid and subsidies to people who make less than $50,000.>> What does it mean for the typical American family? 40% of what you used to pay, you can now use to simply help you meet your ends.
>> Why does this have to be a drive by? In the middle of the night, rushing through a repeal of this individual mandate. When I say this bill is a thief in the night, I mean it.
