>> Thirteen people dead and six injured at a party that became a nightmare. The fire that gutted this nightclub in the northern French city of Rouen started when a birthday cake fell to the floor, ablaze with candles and sparklers. Flames and black smoke filled the basement of the Cuba Libre bar where about 20 people were celebrating on Friday night.
Police told Reuters, toxic fumes killed some, others burned to death. The interior ministry has announced an investigation but officials describe it as an accident, allaying initial fears of a terrorist attack. In a city that only this week, buried a priest, murdered by Islamists in his church.
