>> A Reuters exclusive from the RNC revealing that if Donald Trump wins the presidency, he would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by President Obama. In an audio recording obtained by Reuters, Governor Chris Christie, an ally of Trump, told dozens of donors Tuesday that Trump could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers.
In the closed door meeting Christie said, quote, as you know from his other career, Donald likes to fire people. Referring to Trump's catch phrase, you're fired, from his reality show The Apprentice. Trump's transition advisers fear that Obama may convert these appointees to civil servants who have more job security than officials who've been politically appointed.
In the recording, Christie calls it borrowing. He says, quote, you take them from the political appointee side into the civil service side in order to try to set up roadblocks for your successor. There was no immediate comment from the American Federation of Government Employees, which is the largest federal employee union in the United States.
Also, no reaction from the Trump campaign.
