Campaigning in North Carolina Tuesday, Donald Trump discussed the many nefarious ways Iran might use money from the US. And he deployed one of his favorite phrases.>> I happen to think it goes into their accounts in Switzerland, personally. Now a lot of people said, no, no, it's used for terror, and they use it for terror.
Now a lot of people said, a lot of people said,>> A lot of people. It's a phrase the Republican nominee used throughout the primaries, and now in the general election. After the Orlando nightclub attack, Trump alleged President Obama didn't understand the terror threat.>> What do you mean by that?
>> Well, there are a lot of people that think maybe he doesn't wanna get it. A lot of people think maybe he doesn't wanna know about it.>> After he was attacked by the father of a fallen Muslim-American soldier, Trump suggested the soldier's mother was not allowed to speak publicly.
>> She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say, you tell me. But plenty of people have written that. And it looked like she had nothing to say. A lot of people have said that.>> Even as far back as a town hall event in September, a Trump supporter suggested America had a problem called Muslims, asking the candidate, when can we get rid of them?
>> When can we get rid of them?>> We're gonna be looking at a lot of->> Trump's response?>> And a lot of people are saying that. And a lot of people are saying->> For much of the campaign, these a lot of people remarks simply landed in the fact checker's pile, accumulating Pinocchios and pants on fire ratings.
But Monday night, social media weighed in, after Trump tweeted that, many people are saying an Iranian nuclear scientist executed by Tehran for espionage was somehow connected to Hillary Clinton's emails. And the ManyPeopleAreSaying hashtag was born, mostly to post outlandish statements mocking the Republican nominee. #ManyPeopleAreSaying that a unicorn is housed in a cage atop Trump Tower.
Many people say Vladimir Putin replaced Donald Trump's fillings with mind-controlling Russian microchips. Not me, but many people say it. And many people are saying that when Trump says, many people are saying, there's actually no people saying what he says many people are saying.
