>> Liftoff for the world's longest aircraft, part plane, part airship, Airlander Ten took to the skies over the south of England for its maiden flight. Around 50 feet longer than a jumbo jet, its odd shape helps give it lift. The super efficient design can keep it in the air for five days with a crew on board, or two weeks unmanned.
Originally intended as a US spy plane, budget cuts saw the military pull out. Now, manufacturers hybrid air vehicles say there's a market for around 100 such aircraft. Flying cargo, transport and disaster relief with a carbon footprint a fraction of a normal plane and no need for a runway.
