>> A day after Syrian rebels broke the siege of Aleppo, the response comes hard and fast. Government war planes pounding rebel-held positions according to these pictures released by the Syrian military. A coalition of Islamist rebels Began a major offensive on Friday to break the month long siege of Eastern Aleppo.And is now weaving further into government held territory.
Rustling Damascus. Despite the rebel gains,residents remain trapped by the fierce fighting and non stop air strikes. But, the advance could change the balance of power in Aleppo. After government forces laid siege to insurgent held district of the divided cities, fears are now growing that the tables will be turned and rebels will encircle government held areas.
The rebel coalition known as Jaysh Al Fateh says it's aiming to retake the entire city, and raise its flag on Aleppo's ancient citadel. The stakes are high. For both sides, the loss of Aleppo would be a crushing blow.
