>> This is thought to be the face of Turkey's latest military fugitive following last month's failed coup. A Turkish officer seeking asylum in the US after being recalled by his country's government as they purge military ranks. US officials said he was on assignment for NATO stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
They did not name him or his rank, but Turkey's Washington embassy identified him as Admiral Mustafa Ugurlu. They say he failed to reports to authorities after a detention order was issued last month. The case could further strain ties between the US and Turkey, a critical member of the NATO alliance.
Ankara already demanding the return of US-based Fethullah Gulen, who it says was behind the coup.>>
