>> A miniscule of questions over his contacts with Russian officials, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday, saying he will not involve himself with any investigation of Donald Trump's presidential campaign.>> I am now decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matter relating in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.
>> The announcement coming amid mounting calls from lawmakers for Sessions to recuse himself. After the Washington Post revealed that while Sessions was advising the Trump campaign, he met with Moscow's ambassador to the US. Despite telling the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath that he'd had no contact with Russian officials.
>> I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign, and I did not have communications with the Russians.>> Sessions on Thursday, saying he does not believe he lied in his testimony.>> I never had meetings with Russian operatives or Russian intermediaries about the Trump campaign.
The Attorney General refusing to confirm or deny the existence of any active investigation into whether Trump or his aides directly conspired with Moscow. Just hours before the Attorney General's announcement, Trump expressing his full support for Jeff Sessions.
