>> More than 20 people have been killed in a Taliban suicide attack in Afghanistan. At least 20 others were wounded in the capital Kabul on Tuesday. Twin blasts near parliament offices hit a crowded area during the afternoon rush hour.>> I was in the mosque for prayer when I heard a huge bang.
It scared me and the children who were studying in the mosque.>> The Islamist militant Afghan Taliban movement immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. It's said it had targeted a mini bus carrying staff from the country's main intelligence agency. Officials said a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Darul Aman area.
Followed almost immediately by a car bomber in what seems to be a coordinated operation. Thousands of civilians have been killed in Afghanistan in the 15 years since the Taliban government was brought down by a US-led campaign in 2001. In July, the UN reports that 1,601 civilians had been killed in the first half of 2016, the highest number since it started collating figures in 2009.
