>> Israeli soldier, Elor Azaria, convicted of manslaughter in one of the most divisive trials in the country's history. The 20 year old, put on trial in a military court for this. In March, while deployed in the occupied West Bank, he shot and killed a Palestinian assailant, as he lay wounded after stabbing another Israeli soldier.
The whole thing captured on camera by a Palestinian human rights activist in the City of Hebron. Scuffles erupted as hundreds demonstrated outside, it's a case that's divided Israeli society. With many citizens, right wing politicians, and some celebrities rallying behind the soldier, saying he's being made a scapegoat.>> He's innocent, he's a hero, he has to get a prize from the army.
>> The family of the dead Palestinian, Abdel-Fattah al-Sharif, watched the results from their home in Hebron. Palestinian leaders had called for the sergeant to be brought to justice. In Israel, where military service is mandatory, the campaign supporting Azaria has dubbed him everyone's child.
