>> A bomb at a boxing match in the Philippines has wounded 33 people. The explosion detonating during the amateur bout outside a shopping mall in Leyte province late on Wednesday. It's the second attack on a public place by unknown perpetrators in less than a week. An 81 millimeter mortar round was set off remotely by cellphone.
>> Everyone was happy and cheering the boxing match. But suddenly there was a loud explosion and people started running.>> Police said no suspects have been identified and no group had claimed responsibility. On Christmas Eve, a grenade wounded 16 people outside a Catholic church on the southern island of Mindanao.
It's a Muslim dominated region where a long-running insurgency is raging. Police said there was no indication the two attacks were linked. President Rodrigo Duterte has warned of the threat of festering Islamic militancy in the Philippines. Some splinter groups in the southern islands have pledged allegiance to Islamic State.
