>> On the first day of the New Year, California residents woke up to their iconic Hollywood sign changed to Hollyweed. This stunt comes less than two months after voters make recreational marijuana legal for adults in the state. City surveillance cameras showed a person dressed in black around 3 AM Sunday.
Police believe that person was behind the prank, and could be charged with misdemeanor trespassing. Material similar to a tarp was placed over the two O's of the sign to make them look like E's. This isn't the first time the Hollywood sign was changed to Hollyweed. The landmark sign was defaced on New Year's Day in 1976, when marijuana was decriminalized in California.
