>> A shootout between gunmen and police at a tourist castle in Jordan Sunday ending with at least nine dead, including four civilians, a Canadian woman among them and five police officers>> Jordanian security forces killing four assailants. This amateur video obtained by Reuters showing tourists fleeing a medieval castle in the southern city of Karak.
The assailants were hiding out in the hilltop location and where they fired at police, after first exchanging gun fire at a residential building. At least 29 other people were rushed to a nearby hospital, some with serious injuries.>>
> What happened today is that a group of people who wanted to destroy their numbers unknown entered the Governor out of Karak to create panic and disrupt the stability and security of Jordan through the heart of the country, the governor of Karak.
>> Jordanian Prime Minister, Hani Al-Mulki addressing parliament described the gunmen as ten outlaws. Their identity is not yet known. An official statement said the four dead assailants were carrying automatic weapons. Large amounts of explosives, weapons, and suicide belts were also seized in a hideout.
