>> Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who on Sunday summoning the ambassadors of 11 nations to meet with him after the passage of a UN resolution condemning Israeli settlements. Those summoned include the American Envoy after the US abstained from the security council vote rather than exercise its veto to protect an ally.
Netanyahu, enraged, calling out the US secretary of state by name.>> Over decades, American administrations and Israeli governments have disagreed about settlements. But we agreed that the Security Council was not the place to resolve this issue. And as I told John Kerry on Thursday, friends don't take friends to the security council.
>> Israeli settlements on lands where Palestinian arabs hopes to one day claim a state of their own remain a key sticking point in efforts to broker peace between the two sides. Sunday's bitter remarks capping off a frosty eight year relationship between US President Barack Obama and Netanyahu. The leaders clashed openly over a landmark agreement aimed at curtailing Iran's nuclear program.
Netanyahu on Sunday saying he was looking forward to working with the new incoming American administration when it takes office next month.
