>> President elect Trump.>> A friendly working relationship between the 44th and the 45th presidents is officially eroding, or is it? On Wednesday morning President elect Donald Trump on Twitter complaining about the quote, many inflammatory President O statements and roadblocks. Thought it was going to be a smooth transition- NOT!
Yet hours later he announced the two had spoken on the phone.>> But we had a very general conversation, very, very nice, appreciated that he called.>> Adding that the transition was going smoothly. Their relationship certainly has had its ups and downs. Despite a campaign of unprecedented viciousness, with Trump rising to prominence by doubting the President's birth place.
And Obama calling Trump woefully unprepared and unfit to be president. President Obama spoke of the need for a stable transfer of power the day after the election and welcomed Trump into the oval office the day after that. Trump and his team even praised the President for how they were welcomed, reporting that the two were in frequent contact.
But Obama's claim that if he ran he could have won a third term with his message of hope and optimism, put that relationship on ice. It came after the President elect has repeatedly broken protocol that there be only one president at a time. Not only speaking out on policy issues, like the UN vote on Israeli settlements, but actively interfering to influence the vote.
And this is certainly not likely to mend any rifts, the latest Gallup poll of the most admired man in the country not going to the incoming president, but the outgoing one. It's the ninth year Obama's won the category.
