>> Lebanese security forces have arrested a local Uber driver suspected of killing a British Embassy worker, Rebecca Dykes. The British woman worked at the country's embassy in Beirut and was found dead by this main road on Saturday. A local Lebanese news agency says the suspect admitted to picking up Dykes in his taxi, collecting her late Friday from a popular bar district in the city before assaulting and killing her.
She was found strangled. Security sources say the Uber driver had previous criminal violations and the cab app is working with the authorities. Dykes having working for the Department of International Development. The British ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, tweeting that the whole embassy is deeply shocked, saddened by this news.
In a city with a reputation for safety, the death is likely to send shock waves to the international community.
