>> New York City hit with an attempted terrorist attack Monday, after a man detonated a homemade bomb inside a crowded Port Authority Bus Terminal, wounding himself and three others.>> Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals.>> I'm Lisa Bernhard, outside the Port Authority in New York.
This is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the country, even more so now given the holiday season. The blast occurred in an underground passageway between the Port Authority and the Times Square subway station, at the height of the morning commute.>> The suspect, 27 year old Akayed Ullah, a US resident from Bangladesh, was burned in the blast while three other people including a police officer sustained minor injuries.
>> Preliminary investigation at the scene indicates this male was wearing an improvised, low tech, explosive device attached to his body. He intentionally detonated that device.>> Monday's attack occurred just over a month after a man drove a truck through a New York bike path, in another terrorist incident that killed eight people.
