>> President Putin and I have been discussing various things.>> Russian President Vladimir Putin called US President Donald Trump on Sunday to thank him for a tip off that helped prevent a terrorist bomb attack on a cathedral in the Russian city of St Petersburg. That's according to a statement on the Kremlin's website that said information provided by CIA officers allowed Russian law enforcement agencies to arrest the would be attackers before they could carry out their plan.

The phone call comes amid fraught relations between Washington and Moscow, in large part because of the US intelligence community's consensus that the Kremlin meddled in last year's US presidential election. Russia has repeatedly denied US intelligence agency's conclusions that Moscow interfered in the election. And last month, Trump said he believed Putin when he denied those US intelligence findings.
