>> An adult male suspect linked to a string of recent murders around Phoenix, Arizona killed himself on Monday after being surrounded by police. Detectives tracked him down to the extended stay hotel on Monday morning in the suburb of Scottsdale.>> During that operation, shots were fired inside the suspect's room.
Our tactical team did make entry into that room and located the suspect, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.>> Police alleging that evidence links this suspect who authorities have not yet identified to four homicides last week, Including the shooting of a prominent forensic psychiatrist Steven Pitt in Phoenix, Thursday.
Pitt had worked on the high profile investigation into the killing of six year old JonBenet Ramsey. Police say the suspect has also been connected to the double murder of Scottsdale paralegals, Valerie Sharp and Laura Anderson from Friday. And the murder of 72 year-old Marshall Levine, who was found dead from a gunshot wound Saturday at his office in a Scottsdale mental health counseling facility.
Police are still trying to figure out what if anything linked the victims and have not yet disclosed a motive.
