>> Paul Manafort entering court on Friday, only to be told soon afterwards that he'd be going to jail. US District Judge Amy Berman revoked Manafort's bail conditions after prosecutors working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller alleged the one-time Trump campaign manager and one of his associates had tried to tamper with witnesses in the case against him.
Correspondent Ginger Gibson is following the story.>> The judge said that while they had no appetite for this decision, they felt forced to do so because of Manafort's actions in this case. Saying that Manafort was treating the legal proceedings like another public relations campaign, instead of the very serious criminal matter that was before the court.
>> Mueller is investigating Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election. His team has charged Manafort with numerous offenses in both Washington and Virginia.>> These charges don't stem from his actions in the Trump campaign when he was Trump campaign manager, but instead, things he allegedly did before taking that job.
Including, federal prosecutors have alleged, illegally lobbying in the United States on behalf of Russian interest regarding the Ukraine.>> Mrs. Manafort, are you gonna visit Paul in prison?>> He will remain in jail until his Washington trial scheduled for September.
