Iran says it won't cooperate fully with atomic inspectors until this standoff is resolved. Us Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, hitting back on Twitter, vowing not to allow Iran to develop a nuclear bomb. The tension piles pressure on France, Britain, and Germany, already scrambling to salvage the deal after President Trump pulled the US out a month ago, and slapped sanctions back on Iran.
European Ministers urged Washington in a letter this week to spare EU firms that are active in Iran from secondary sanctions. They also said an Iranian withdrawal from the deal, which lifted sanctions on Tehran in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program, would further unsettle the region.
