>> More details emerging on the death of designer Kate Spade who took her own life Tuesday sending shock waves through the fashion world. Her older sister Rita Saffo telling several media outlets that her suicide was quote, not unexpected. And that the fashion legend had struggled with mental illness for the past several years.
Safo adding that at one point, Spade was quote, all set to go to an inpatient treatment center. But in the end, she decided against it, thinking it could hurt the cheerful image of her brand. The 55 year old hanged herself Tuesday, and was found by her housekeeper at her home in Manhattan.
She left behind a suicide note for her 13 year old daughter, Frances Beatrix, apparently telling her this was not her fault. According to media outlets, the letter also advised her daughter to seek answers from her father, Andrew Spade. The couple were reportedly having marital problems and Spade was looking for his own apartment.
Condolences continued to pour in on Wednesday. Celebrities from Martha Steward to Mindy Kaling and Chelsea Clinton memorializing the fashion icon, who created a line of accessories including home goods, and these bright and playful bags predominantly featuring her name.>> I remember thinking, there's something missing, I want something for my eye to go to.
