>> Deep in low Cambodia what some call a success story for China massive plant to connect Asia to Europe looks more like a ruin. However, there are more questions than answers here. Beijing has promised the belted road will be open transparent and environmentally friendly. But the resort doesn't seem to be any of those things. Work started ten years ago, where the

We went to a bar on the beach and they told us they couldn't serve us until we called in advance. You kinda wonder why everything was such at a standstill.>> Work has also started on a nearby port, but that's not finished either. Locals told Reuters that military guards stationed there let villagers fish for a fee.

And then there is the environmental damage. So the resort is built in Cambodia's largest national park, it's called Botum Sakor. And when the Chinese first got to the area it was actually all covered in rainforest but now all of that has been cleared. There's also a question of whether the Cambodia project is even officially certified as part of the Belt in road initiative.

Experts say some developers use their label to smooth approvals and get funding. UDG also have plans for an airport, roads, and tree planting. But so far there's little information on where the project stands. Including how much money has been spent and who has benefitted. Experts warn that China needs to get serious about clear and open policies.

And if it doesn't, secretive and risky projects like this could end up hurting the reputation of it's massive infrastructure roll out.
