>> Just weeks after taking office New York attorney General Barbara Underwood unveiled a new lawsuit Thursday against President Donald Trump, his family members and the Donald J Trump foundation. In a court filing Underwood accuses the foundation of violating laws governing New York state charities. And says her goal is to dissolve it entirely.

Underwood also charges that the foundation illegally raised over $2.8 million, designed to influence the 2016 election, under the control of Trump's campaign. Ginger Gibson is following the story.>> There had been a lot of criticism and reporting previously that the Trump Foundation was not, in fact, giving that money to charitable foundations.

The New York Attorney General is asking for a number of remedies such as not allowing the foundation to exist. But they've also sent letters to the Federal Elections Commission and the IRS asking them to pursue some of the allegations.>> Also named in the lawsuit Trump's children Ivanka's, Eric, and Donald Jr. Who had been members of the foundation's board for years, but whom Underwood charges failed to perform their required oversight duties.

Trump's charity drew scrutiny during the campaign, when then Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ordered it to stop fundraising, saying it had not properly registered with the state. The Foundation later announced it would shut down. Trump himself unloaded on Twitter tying the case to Schneiderman a democrat who is resigned in disgrace in May after reports he physically abused romantic partners, saying the case was quote ridiculous and he would not settle it.
