>> Reports are coming in that a major battle is unfolding in a Yemen port city. What's likely, the largest battle of that country's civil war. Reuter's cameras haven't been able to get close enough to observe yet. These images from the port of Hodada are from a past visit.
A coalition of Arab states, and Yemeni fighters led by Saudi Arabia are pounding Hodada City with war planes and naval bombardments. They're trying a ground invasion, seeking to wrest control from the country's ruling Houthis faction, which controls almost every population center, including the capital. It's the first time the Saudi coalitions try to take such an area and their said brought a force 21,000 strong but Hodada is especially risky.
600,000 people live there, and the UN says the attack could lead to a quarter million deaths. It's the only major access point for humanitarian aid into the country, on the verge of mass starvation.
