>> The North Atlantic dodging one hurricane just as another is barreling up Mexico's Pacific Coast. Hurricane Newton bringing heavy rains and winds of up to 90 miles per hour to the Baja California Peninsula, a luxury resort and surfing hotspot. So far there are no immediate reports of major damage.
The category 1 hurricane hit the resort of Cabo San Lucas early Tuesday morning and then headed north. Mexican emergency services warned of waves of over 13 feet along the coast. The US National Hurricane Center warning Newton storm surges could cause significant coastal flooding along with large and potentially devastating riptides.
