massive blast shaking lower Manhattan and bringing a huge wave of first responders to the crowded Chelsea neighborhood in America's largest city. The fire department saying at least 29 people were injured, 1 seriously in the explosion Saturday night. A law enforcement source saying preliminary reports indicate the blast erupted inside a dumpster, the cause of the explosion still unknown.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio saying the explosion apparently no accident.>> The early indications, the initial indication, is this was an intentional act. We're gonna have a lot more to say in the coming hours as we have more detailed analysis. But we believe at this point and time this was an intentional act.
>> The Mayor adding there was no indication at this point that the blast was connected to a terror network.>> I wanna say more broadly there is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization.>> Reuters correspondent Simon Webb is on the scene.
>> The windows have been blown out of several vehicles. One guy was in front of the building when it happened in his car and had to leave the car. The police were looking at that. But he showed me footage of the building where we think the explosion happened.
You could see damage on the outside of the building. You could see damage to a shop front or commercial establishment, front of the building. And another witness said that she saw a large white plume of smoke going up from outside the building. And what looked like a big red moon in the middle of it.
And she said she also smelled a really foul odor. And another witness I've spoken to also mentioned the smell.>> The NYPD Bomb Squad and the Joint Police FBI Terror Task Force are investigating. A White House official saying President Barack Obama has been appraised of the situation. Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump not waiting for the results of an investigation or official confirmation telling a rally in Denver, Colorado.
>> Just before I got off the plane a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what's going on. But boy, we are living in a time, we better get very tough folks. We better get very, very tough.>> The explosion taking place the same day a pipe bomb blew up in a plastic trash can in a beach town in New Jersey, which triggered its own federal investigation.
Authorities uncovering a second possible explosive device said to be a pressure cooker connected with wires to a cellular phone near the first blast site.
