>> High alert at the British and German embassies in Turkey after intelligence suggested they may be targets for Islamic State. Four people were detained as police carried out an investigation into the suspected plot. And while any militant links have yet to be proven, in the past year Turkey has been hit by a series of violent attacks and suicide bombings by Islamic State and Kurdish militants.
David Dolan is Reuters' deputy bureau chief in Ankara.>> So security concerns are paramount, really, in Turkey, given the events, really, over the last year, the last year and a half or so. Particularly in the southeast has been hit by waves of violence since the end of the ceasefire between the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, the PKK, and the State.
For a lot of these countries, if they see anything that they believe may be untoward or anything that would be a security risk, they take it very seriously because of the conflicts that we've seen, the attacks that we've seen in Turkey this year.>> Britain's foreign office has urged travelers to stay away from the Syrian border and Kurdish city, Diyarbakır.
After closing on Friday, the embassy is likely to reopen after the weekend.
