>> Authorities say Mona Kirk and Daniel Panico face child cruelty charges. After being found with their three children living in this plywood box built home in Joshua Tree, California. Officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department discovered the home on Wednesday. They say it had no running water, electricity, or heat.
It was surrounded by mounds of trash, human feces, and dozen of feral cats. The three children ages 11, 13, and 14 were taken into custody by Children and Family Services. Officials say the family had lived in the four foot tall box home for about four years. The discovery comes weeks after another California couple were arrested on child abuse charges.
That couple, David and Louise Turpin are accused of keeping the 13 children imprisoned, chained, and starved in a squalid suburban home.
