>> The White House, on Wednesday, forced to face the fact that a porn star is now suing the president.>> Look, the president has addressed these directly and made very well clear that none of these allegations are true.>> Stephanie Clifford, better known as the adult film star Stormy Daniels, sued President Donald Trump this week.
She claimed that his lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid her $130,000 in hush money, and signed a non-disparagement agreement to keep quiet about a sexual affair between them. But, her lawsuit argues that the deal is invalid because the president never signed it. The White House has repeatedly denied the allegations of a consensual and extramarital sexual affair.
But amid the denials on Wednesday, spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said this>> This case has already been won in arbitration>> You said that there's arbitration?>> I can share that arbitration was won in the president's favor.>> Sander's statement may amount to an admission of sorts. Reuters' Legal Correspondent, Jan Wolf.
>> The nondisclosure agreement that Clifford has come forward with using aliases to refer to the two parties. So, when Press Secretary Sanders said today that the president won an arbitration against Clifford, that suggests that he was a party to this agreement which contained an arbitration clause. So it seems to be a tacit admission that the resident was party to this agreement and has avail himself of its arbitration clause.
>> Trump's lawyer, Micheal Cohen, previously admitted to making $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels but said it was to keep her from making false claims of a sexual affair. In any case, Stormy Daniels lawsuit is asking a judge to toss out the non- disparagement agreement.>> We believe the NDA will be tossed out.
We believe that it will show that Mr. Trump never signed either document. And therefore she is free to tell her story.>> Trump's lawyers have yet to respond to the lawsuit but Reuters reached at Daniels' lawyers for comments on the White houses claims that the president had already won.
