> Blessed are the semi-automatic riffles. A church in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains held a ceremony on Wednesday, celebrating congregants marriages and their weapons. The World Peace and Reunification Sanctuary is often described as a cult, a breakaway faction of the unification church founded by the late Korean spiritual leader, Reverend Sun Myung Moon.
The congregation believes that the AR-15 assault rifle is the modern day incarnation of the quote, rod of iron referenced in the book of Revelations. Many in the service wore crowns, some made to look like bandoliers of rifle bullets. The sanctuary claims it regularly attracts 200 members to Sunday worship services.
A spokesman for the church says the ceremony blessing the AR-15s had been planned before a teenager used the rifle to gun down 17 teachers and students in Parkland, Florida
