This is insane, that our kids are 82 times more likely to be killed by guns than the global average. It's time for Congress to act, and that's why we're here today. Behind me are 7,000 empty pairs of shoes that represent 7,000 kids killed by gun violence since Sandy Hook in 2012.
I think this is an amazing moment, where America is ready for gun control. In fact, our kids are begging us for gun control.
>> And in particular, Daniel had mentioned to me in a conversation. He asked me a question, did you know there were loopholes in the Brady Bill? That's the national law that requires background checks be conducted for all sales. Then, he was killed with a gun that was purchased through one of those loopholes.
So that's what really inspired me to work in his name to close those loopholes, and to do so in his shoes.
