>> A suicide attack in Saudi Arabia appearing to target foreigners for the first time in years. A bomber blowing himself up outside the US Consulate in Jeddah on Monday, in the early hours of America's Independence Day. Parking his car nearby then detonating an explosive when two security men approached.
Authority say that the guards were injured but the attacker was the only person who died. According to a witness, the blast happened about 20 meters or 65 feet from a consulate checkpoint. Three more explosion rocks the area later as police carried out controlled explosions. Scores of people have died in Saudi Arabian bombings in recent years.
But expats haven't been the focus since an Al Qaeda campaign a decade ago which killed hundreds in attacks on businesses and residential compounds.
