>> A day of celebration quickly turns to horror in France. An attacker killing at least 75 people, ramming a truck through crowds gathered to watch Bastille Day fireworks in the southern city of Nice. Eye witnesses say he seemed to be targeting spectators when he plowed the 25 ton vehicle into the crowd.
He even got out of the truck and started firing a weapon.>> A truck arrived and smashed into everyone. Everyone, there was no security, it took the emergency services half an hour to get here.>> Police say potentially hundreds of people are injured with more than 40 in critical condition meaning the death toll could still rise.
Investigators say they discovered weapons and grenades inside the unidentified man's truck. And they're treating the crash as a terrorist attack. French President François Hollande has arrived in the city for emergency meetings. Experts say Niss Hassin has seen signficant Islamic activity in the past. With some Muslim residents even traveling to fight in Syria.
Thursday's tragedy would be the third high profile mass killing in France since 2015. The country still reeling from last November's Paris attack when Islamic State militants gunned down 130 people. US President Barack Obama has condemned the quote horrific terrorist attack and offered to help France with the investigation.
