I'm running for president because we need dreamers in Washington but we also need to get things done former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper join the crowded democratic field of presidential candidates on Monday hoping to position himself as a centrist and inexperienced officeholder best poised to defeat president Donald Trump is a skinny kid with coke bottle glasses and a funny last name I've set up to my fair share of police Hickenlooper has long been considered the state's deacon chief as a two time governor he's touting Colorado's robust economy the state's expanded health care and his record on gun control under his leadership one day I got a library how to write a business plan he's also talking up his personal biography after being laid off from work as a geologist in the nineteen eighties Hickenlooper opened a brewery and pub just build a restaurant , the whole neighborhood never look back in two thousand seven he was elected mayor of Denver and in twenty ten he became governor during his first term as governor he had to handle a series of disasters and tragedies including record wildfires floods and the twenty twelve movie theater shooting in Aurora that killed twelve people during his two gubernatorial campaigns he can looper refused to air negative ads a position how likely Kerry into his twenty twenty bed but which might be harder to maintain I've done in Colorado what I love to do for the country is be able to bring people together that have been feuding at each other's throats get to put down their weapons find common ground at at and actually get stuff done he'll also have another challenge on its hands proving that a centrist approach over his left leaning rivals is the way to win back the White House
