I am thrilled to announce , that in twenty twenty for the first time in history the democratic party's national convention will be held right here in the great state of Wisconsin and the great city of Milwaukee exactly who will emerge as the twenty twenty democratic nominee for president is anyone's guess but we now know where he or she will accept the nomination it's a move Democrats hope will help bolster their chances at taking back key swing states such as Wisconsin the president Donald Trump one in the twenty sixteen election it's a nod to lessons learned Hillary Clinton who did not campaign in Wisconsin during the twenty sixteen general election also lost the state of Michigan and Pennsylvania by narrow margins helping give trump the path to victory it was a victory Republicans including Wisconsin native and then house speaker Paul Ryan weren't shy about I think what Donald Trump just pulled off is an enormous political feet DNC chairman Tom Peres says the decision to host it in a midwestern city other than Chicago for the first time in over a century right was motivated by one vision how can we win elections and take back our democracy the Democratic National Convention will run July thirteenth to sixteenth while the Republican National Convention will be held more than a month later in Charlotte North Carolina from August twenty fourth through the twenty seventh
