>> New York and Northern Virginia might have just beaten out competition for Amazon's hotly anticipated second quarters, HQ2. That's according to a Reuters sources who says the announcement could come as early as Tuesday. It brings to an end a more than year long contest for the site, which began with more than 200 candidates and ended with a surprise even split.
Amazon spakred a bidding frenzy last September when it announced an addition to its Seattle home. The company has said it will come with a $5 billion budget and a 50,000 strong workforce. US cities scrambled to lure in the world's largest online retailer, with promises including billions of dollars worth of tax breaks.
Industry analysts say the even split of HQ2 will help Amazon broaden its bases and fend off competition for top talent from Alphabet's Google and Facebook.
