the US government is removing nearly two hundred fifty migrant children out of this Texas border patrol station were lawyer said the kids had been held for weeks in squalid conditions their removal comes after attorneys visited the Clinton Texas facility just outside of el Paso last week and said they had found more than three hundred children living in thirty conditions without adequate food and water they said they thought toddlers without diapers being cared for by other children in that the kids lacked adequate food clean clothes toothbrushes and showers they also found children sleeping on concrete floors now only thirty children remain at the facility the rest are being transferred to shelters run by the US department of health and Human Services or HHS under U. S. law children who cross the border without a parent should be held in border patrols short term holding facilities for no longer than seventy two hours and then moved to HHS shelters as quickly as possible and HHS spokeswoman confirmed the border centers are not designed to care for children and that the problem was a direct result of the unprecedented number of children coming to the west
