former special counsel Robert Muller has agreed to testify publicly before Congress in a statement late Tuesday the house judiciary and intelligence committees announced that he agreed to an open session that's after they've issued subpoenas forced testimony he was very reluctant to testify and it was necessary to issue a subpoena but he has agreed to comply with it and we look for his testimony Miller is set to appear in public in front of the two panels next month the announcement comes just a month after Muller wrapped up two years of investigating Russian interference in the twenty sixteen election Miller's report outline times were trump tried to interfere with the investigation but it did not judge whether that amounted to obstruction of justice and then Miller faced reporters and me a present president cannot be charged with a federal crime well he is in office , that is unconstitutional charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider Miller said justice department policy means his probe was never going to end with charges against truck however he also said his investigation didn't clear the president that it's up to Congress to decide whether trump should be impeached if we had had cog confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime we would have said so the announcement that Miller will testify comes just after trump formally launched his twenty twenty reelection campaign last week at a rally in Orlando Florida the US president once again made issue with the special counsel's probe we went through the greatest witch hunt in political history it was all an illegal attempt to overturn the results of the election spying on our campaign which is what they did adds up our democracy trump calls Miller's report the complete exoneration but some Democrats have called for impeachment proceedings against trump in light of the findings
