Iranian officials on Friday told Reuters that to Ron had received a message from US president Donald Trump overnight warning that a US attack was imminent using neighboring Oman as a back channel one official told Reuters that in his message trump said he was against any war with Iran and wanted to talk about various issues a second a rainy and official told Reuters quotes we made it clear that the leader is against any talks but the message will be conveyed to him to make a decision , news of the message came shortly after the New York Times said that trump had approved the military strikes against Iran on Friday over the downing of an American surveillance drones but then called off the operation last minutes out of all this and that the Iranian state television showed what it said were retrieved sections of the downed US drone according to the times report which cited government officials the president had approved a tax on a handful of Iranian targets after intense debates at the White House over how the US should respond those targets included radar installations and missile batteries the operation was reportedly under way with ships in place and planes in the air only for in order to come to stand down earlier in the day trump indicated he was not eager to escalate a stand off with the run I think probably Iran , made a mistake I would imagine it was a general or somebody that made a mistake and shooting that drone down unfortunately the drone was on arm it was not there was no man in it and there was no it was just it was over international waters clearly over international waters but we didn't have a man or woman in the draw we had nobody in the drive are you still would have made a big difference let me tell you what I made a big big difference the drones destruction comes after a spate of attacks on oil tankers and the Gulf exacerbating tensions in the region the planned strikes on a Ron were reportedly set to take place just before dawn on Friday to minimize risk to the rainy and military into civilians but it's not clear according to the times whether the strikes could still go forward
