nobody is above the law , not even miss Conway , house oversight committee voted on Wednesday to subpoena testimony from kellyanne Conway after she failed to appear at a hearing about her alleged violations of the hatch act a law that limits federal employees political activity the office of special counsel a government watchdog agency not affiliated with Robert Muller earlier this month recommended Conley be fired for repeatedly violating the hatch act by disparaging democratic candidates while speaking in her official capacity as White House senior adviser on TV and social media the White House ignored that recommendation in added that Conway was immune from testifying house oversight chair Elijah Cummings called that reasoning baseless here we have a clear cut case , of a federal employee , violating federal law over and over and over again , we have video , the law itself and claiming it does not apply to her when reporters asked her about the infractions in may her response was quote blah blah blah and quote I don't really care Republicans say Democrats are trying to limit Conley's free speech while Democrats see this as yet another case of stonewalling from the White House
