at five thousand feet above sea level Guadalajara sees its share of inclement weather but Sunday's weather was extraordinary a hail storm that blanketed parts of the city with nearly five feet of ice it caught local residents by surprise with children taking full advantage but less happy truckers stuck in their tracks hail storms occur when warm moist air rises to elevations so high ice crystals and supercooled water become pellets of ice which fall to the ground when they become too heavy even in Guadalajara where temperatures hit eighty degrees Sunday police go state governor and retail faro Ramirez tweeted out quote hail more than a meter high and then we wonder if climate change exists
