Nike is pulling this USA themed sneaker from store shelves after Colin Kaepernick reportedly complained about its design the sneaker featured an early version of the American flag created during the American revolution it's referred to as the Betsy Ross flag according to the Wall Street journal the former NFL player turned activist reached out to ninety one photos of the she were posted online saying he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery Nike created the air Max one USA in celebration of July fourth it was scheduled to go out this week the journal said that after shipping the shoes to retailers Nike asked for them to be returned without explaining why however some of the sneakers have already made their way to resale site stock X. were on Tuesday one sold for twenty five hundred dollars Nike's move sparks backlash online with some pledging to boycott the company but it also may have some real world consequences on Tuesday Arizona's governor announced that he plans to withdraw all financial incentive dollars to encourage Nike to add a manufacturing plant in the state governor Doug Ducey tweeter quote I am embarrassed for Nike Cabernet chasm played in the NFL since twenty sixteen when he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality Nike last year made him the face of their thirtieth anniversary campaign well he was engaged in a dispute with the league
