S. southern border it will not be the end of this debate it will be the battle cry it will be the battle cry as well how we go forward to protect children the bill's passage is a striking defeat for house speaker Nancy Pelosi who said earlier that she and her fellow Democrats will quote reluctantly passed the Senate bill in a letter below sea added the children come first at the end of the day we have to make sure that the resources needed to protect the children are available therefore we will not engage in the same disrespectful behavior that the Senate did in ignoring our priorities we did not in the area and continued to play these political games over this humanitarian crisis they did the Senate on Wednesday rejected the version of the bill from house Democrats who wanted to add provisions that specified how the money could be spent the Senate bill also includes extra money for the department of defense and immigration and customs enforcement or ice employees , house Democrats held a moment of silence for the drowned father and daughter in the photo that sparked outrage across the globe and ultimately spurred efforts to reach a compromise the legislation now goes to president Donald Trump for him to sign before Congress breaks this week for the fourth of July holiday meanwhile democratic candidates vying to challenge trump in twenty twenty lined up to visit a detention facility housing thousands of unaccompanied migrant children in homestead Florida you do not lock up thousands of children including kids or eight nine or ten years of age their visit comes after the recently reported filthy conditions at a border patrol station and Clint Texas and the head of the second round of the democratic debates in Miami
