actress Felicity Huffman has agreed to plead guilty to participating in the largest college admissions scandal in U. S. history in a statement the former desperate housewives star who's accused of paying fifteen thousand dollars to have her daughters as a T. responses secretly doctored said she was quote ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter my family my friends my colleagues and the educational community adding quote my daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way I have betrayed her the plea deal allows Hoffman to avoid a potentially embarrassing and messy trial says Reuters correspondent Nate Raymond federal prosecutors actually agreed to recommend a prison term for Hoffman at the low end of four to ten months she is also agreed to pay a twenty thousand dollar fine and restitution %HESITATION very low and favorable sentence for a white collar defendant in a case like this you know it's possible she might face no prison time %HESITATION sentencing at the federal level is entirely at a judge's discretion Hoffman is among thirteen other parents who on Monday also said they will enter guilty pleas her husband actor William H. Macy was not charged in the case the mastermind behind the scheme California college counselor William Rick singer pled guilty last month and is cooperating with authorities singer allegedly received a total of twenty five million dollars from wealthy parents to get their kids in to top colleges such as Yale and Stanford by cheating on entrance exams and paying bribes to coaches in all fifty people were indicted including former full house star Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Genouilly a fashion designer both of whom appeared in court last week they are accused of paying five hundred thousand dollars to have their two daughters including social media influencer a livia jade named as recruits to , USC's crew team even though neither one is a competitive rower
