people in Tennessee the sentence of death prosecutors in California say they will seek the death penalty in the case of the Golden State killer seventy three year old Joseph de Angelo is charged with thirteen counts of murder in a series of rapes and killings that spanned eleven years in Sacramento the San Francisco Bay Area and southern California starting in nineteen seventy five district attorneys from four separate jurisdictions disclose their joint decision to seek the death penalty during a Wednesday court hearing for the suspect the decision puts prosecutors at odds with the statewide moratorium on capital punishment declared last month by governor Gavin Newsom this is the most gruesome case , that has ever existed if there is ever a death penalty case it is the Golden State Keller d'angelo was arrested last year after authorities say DNA evidence linked him to some of the crimes his arrest captain investigation that lasted more than forty years Angelo was an officer in two small California town this during the nineteen seventies he suspected in dozens of rapes and more than one hundred twenty burglaries
