at the height of the Vietnam War this factory is to make military uniforms code named X. forty it was one of three factories making gear for the north Vietnamese army and its Viet Cong guerrillas today it still makes uniforms but for a different kind of battle and a very different team we outfit quite a few countries including the U. S. %HESITATION Olympic team ex forty now called the Max Ford factory is the official manufacturer of Olympic uniforms for the US Canada and south African teams it also turns out millions of garments for international companies like Nike and move the women every year Australian just Stokes bought the factory over a decade ago he was among some of the first foreign investors to place orders at X. forty after Vietnam opened its doors to the world by the time I arrived in %HESITATION nineteen ninety one the factory had already converted to and %HESITATION making garments for export when the Soviet Union collapsed in nineteen ninety one state owned factories in Vietnam started focusing on exporting the country desperately needed hard cash Vietnam's reform had already kicked off by then but it was still under US trade embargo that wouldn't be lifted until nineteen ninety four , hi I feel proud when I watch the Olympics and see all comments on TV it might not be the exact one I made but one of them must be ninety two friends all the factories transformation first hand she's been working here for over twenty five years and with the company already flooded to make clothes for the upcoming twenty twenty games in Tokyo she can look forward to seeing her work on the screen once again in the near future
