Kemp oversaw voting in Georgia, which was widely condemned Tuesday for voting irregularities. Abrams vowed to stay in the race.>> And I promise you tonight we are gonna make sure that every vote is counted.>>
However, there were notable pickups, the Democrats flipped the the Governor's seat in Michigan, in Kansas Trump ally Chris Commack fell short and Democrats ushered in a first in Colorado where Jared Pulish will be the nation's first openly gay governor. And a big win in Wisconsin, Democrat Tony Evers pulled of a narrow victory over the incumbent Scott Walker, denying him a third term.
Winning state-level power has huge ramifications. It can help either party support or resist Trump's agenda on issues such as health care, gun control, and gay rights. And in some states a governor's power to sign or veto congressional maps could decide the chamber's partisan balance.
